Cases of infertility are not confined to any particular country or nationality and are found spread all over the world. Though infertility is the cause of unhappiness in many homes and a painful experience to individuals, with advances in human reproductive science even the worst forms can undergo infertility treatment successfully.

Infertility is basically the inability for a couple to conceive and must be looked at from the context of both in order to be understood. Some cases have been recorded where the cause cannot be explained. Pregnancy involves a woman producing an egg from a normal uterus to accommodate the pregnancy while, on the other hand, the man must produce sperm of good quality and count.

Medical experts classify infertility using various scenarios with the first being likely due to lack of ovulation in the woman who may be caused by the woman not being able to conceive because she does not produce eggs or ovulate as a result of obesity, menopause, poor nutrition, infections or drug abuse, etc. Secondly are those related to the man such as poor sperm count and quality that may be as a result of trauma, injury, vasectomy and sexually transmitted infections and physical injury, etc.

Lastly the uterus or tubes may be blocked as a result of sexually transmitted infections like Chlamydia, injury to the uterus or damage caused to the tubes and removal of the ovaries, etc. In all cases of infertility the victims are advised to seek medical assistance from a reputable fertility clinic such as the Reproductive Fertility Centre Los Angeles.

Times are still tough financially, but that doesn’t mean that all couples are putting off starting a family; sadly though, not everyone is successful the first few times around and has to resort to an IVF procedure. In vitro Fertilization or IVF is a medical procedure that allows couples who are having difficulty in conceiving to have an egg fertilized by a sperm outside of the body in a fluid environment before being transferred to a woman’s uterus. This method is not only being used by the standard male and female couples but also by those who are in same sex relationships. There have even been cases wherein single women who do not want to have a long-term relationship with a man would undergo the procedure because of the desire to have children. Although this medical breakthrough has done a lot of good there are still those who feel that humanity is tampering too much with what nature has already provided. In spite of the controversy though, IVF remains steadfast in helping to bring more babies into the world.

The procedure can work miracles, however it also entails quite a bit of expense. And most in vitro fertilizations rarely work on the first try so you’ll have to give another round of payments again to have one more chance at conceiving. And this becomes even more expensive when you go to developing countries because the technology is not that widespread yet in their area and there are fewer practitioners and centers available as well.
